We Can Go to the Tropics

This summer, along with the bright colors and bold prints that always come along with the arrival of warm weather, a new retail trend has washed ashore. Tropical prints, patterns, and actual pictures on clothing have appeared on runways and showrooms everywhere. Here at NL Collective, we’re embracing the brazen new look. Many luxury brands have been as well. Stella McCartney’s Multicolour Tiered Hawaiian Print Jumpsuit depicts luscious palm trees, kaleidoscopic blue ocean waves, and easy pink flowers. Dries van Noten also followed the trend in a tropical dress.

Gene’s collection depicts a similar motif, with textures imitating that of flourishing flowers, and images of water and colorful landscapes. The marketing is brilliant, on account of the fact that all of these nature references really are the essence of summer, plus they look effortlessly chic. And who doesn’t want to exemplify the essence of summer? So pick up a landscape-printed garment, or a tropical themed piece of statement jewelry, or pair the two to take it to a whole new level. So even if you’re stuck in a concrete jungle, you can at least dream of the beach.
